Capstone Surety is managed by an experienced team of insurance and specialty surety professionals. A brief summary of our executive management team is as follows: Regan James - EVP Surety Underwriting Regan is the EVP for underwriting. He received his Bachelor of Arts at Colgate University and earned a law degree from the University of Alberta. He spent five years with Amwest as a branch manager and opened their Seattle Regional Office in 1983. From 1986 to 1996 he was both a consultant to general contractors and ran a general construction business from Redmond, Washington. He joined American Contractors Insurance Company (now HCC Surety) in 1996 as a senior underwriter. He ultimately became the Vice President of Surety Underwriting, responsible for customs, commercial and contract underwriting until leaving the Company to become the head of underwriting for Capstone. Steve Kay - EVP Surety Marketing and Operations Steve is the president of Capstone Surety, the surety division of NAICC. Steve received his Bachelor of Arts degree from UC Riverside and his MBA from UCLA. Upon graduation, he joined KPMG where he became a partner specializing in the insurance industry. He also spent eight years with Amwest Surety Insurance Company as its CFO and had responsibility for finance, administrative functions and reinsurance arrangements. Thomas A. Pottle – President and CFO of NAICC (parent of Capstone Surety) Tom joined the company in May, 2011. Tom has 24 years of insurance industry experience, including 13 years with CNA Surety, the fourth largest provider of surety bonds in the country. As a member of the senior team at CNA Surety, Tom held several positions including head of Field Operations, Chief Credit Officer, and Chief Operations Officer. Tom earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and Economics from the University of Illinois at Chicago and holds the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Associate in Fidelity and Surety Bonding (AFSB) designations.
